Stamped Concrete Colors & Patterns: A Homeowner's Visual Guide

Patios

One of the best things about stamped concrete is the sheer number of design options. But with so many patterns and colors available, choosing can feel overwhelming. Here's what we recommend based on thousands of square feet of stamped concrete we've poured across Will and DuPage County.

Most Popular Stamp Patterns in 2026

The most popular stamp pattern by far is Ashlar Slate — a natural stone look with irregular rectangular shapes. It works with every home style from modern to traditional. Next up is Random Stone (also called fieldstone), which gives a more organic, natural look. Cobblestone is the go-to for driveways and walkways. And Wood Plank is trending hard for patios that want a deck look without the deck maintenance.

Other patterns we install regularly: Herringbone Brick for a classic look, Flagstone for a rustic feel, European Fan for a high-end touch, and Seamless textures for a subtle, understated finish that just adds surface texture without defined pattern lines.

Color Options: Base Color + Accent

Color is where things really come together. Stamped concrete uses two colors: a base color (integral color mixed into the concrete) and an accent or release color that highlights the pattern details. The contrast between these two colors is what makes the stamp pattern pop.

Our most requested color combos: Walnut base with dark brown release (warm, classic look), Slate gray base with charcoal release (modern, clean), Sandstone base with brown release (natural stone feel), and Terra cotta base with dark release (Mediterranean vibe). We always recommend choosing colors that complement your home's siding, brick, and roof — not match exactly, but coordinate.

How to Choose the Right Combo for Your Home

Here's my best advice: look at your house from the street. What color is your siding? Your trim? Your roof? A stamped patio should feel like a natural extension of your home, not a separate element. Earth tones almost always work. And when in doubt, go slightly darker — fresh concrete lightens as it cures.
